The Ballincollig Green Route & Water Services Contract Construction News

Outline of proposed works through December 2009 and January 2010

The current pipe laying works along Main Street Ballincollig from Muskerry Temporary Roundabout eastbound to East Gate (ALDI Entrance) will cease on Friday 4th December 2009 to allow the re-establishment of two-way traffic through Ballincollig Town Centre for the duration of the busy Christmas shopping and celebration period. Please be advised that during this period buses will return to their original route along Main Street Ballincollig and will not use the Old Fort Road northern diversion route and temporary bus stops along this section. Notices will be placed in advance on the affected bus shelters to inform users.

From week commencing 7th December 2009 the Contractor will move to construct the following works: The construction of a stormwater sewer from Barry's Road eastbound towards Oriel House Hotel. The construction of a stormwater sewer from the Muskerry Temporary Roundabout westbound towards Oreil House Hotel.

Construction of a new traffic light controlled junction at Classis Lake. All the above construction activities will be undertaken whilst maintaining two-way traffic flow on the roads adjacent to the works areas in order to minimise disruption to road users as practically possible.

From week commencing 11th January 2010, the contractor will re-establish the one-way traffic flow westbound along Main Street Ballincollig with eastbound traffic diverted north along the Old Fort Road, as per current traffic flow arrangement. This will allow adequate works area width to commence the Streetscape Works through Main Street Ballincollig.

At the current work rate it is expected that works will be completed along Main Street Ballincollig by May 2010.
